Employee Ownership in Action
At Central Bag Company, employee ownership is more than a benefit — it is part of who we are. Since becoming an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company in 1989, CBC has built a culture where employees have a direct stake in the success of the company and the partnerships we build with our customers.
Being 100% employee owned means that every employee has an opportunity to think beyond their individual role and consider the bigger picture. From the products we manufacture to the relationships we build, employee ownership encourages us to take pride in our work, look for ways to improve, and work together toward the long-term success of Central Bag Company.
Putting Ownership Into Action
One of the ways CBC brings that culture to life is through our annual ESOPlympics.
ESOPlympics gives employees the opportunity to step outside their everyday departments and work alongside coworkers they may not regularly interact with. Employees are divided into teams and compete in a variety of games and challenges designed to encourage teamwork, communication, problem-solving and, of course, a little friendly competition.
While the games are meant to be fun, the bigger goal is connection.
ESOPlympics creates an opportunity for employees from across CBC to spend time together, build relationships and experience firsthand the value of collaboration. It also provides a natural setting for conversations about what employee ownership means and how each person contributes to the success of the company.
At CBC, ownership is not limited to a particular department or position. We all have a role in building the company we own.
More Than a Celebration
Events like ESOPlympics are an important part of how CBC continues to build an employee-owned culture. They give us a chance to recognize the people behind our products and remind us that the strength of CBC comes from the collective knowledge, experience and commitment of our employee owners.
That same spirit extends into the way we work with our customers. As an employee-owned company, we have a vested interest in doing things the right way — from delivering quality packaging solutions to providing dependable service and building partnerships that last.
Our motto, “We build partnerships utilizing proven expertise that you can trust,” reflects that approach. Employee ownership gives our people an added reason to invest in those partnerships and in the future of CBC.
Looking Ahead to ESOPtober
The celebration of employee ownership continues beyond ESOPlympics.
Each October, CBC hosts ESOPtober, a month-long celebration dedicated to our employee owners and the culture we have built together. Throughout the month, employees can take part in a variety of events, activities and gatherings designed to celebrate our history as an employee-owned company, strengthen connections across the organization and recognize the people who make CBC what it is today.
As we look toward another ESOPtober, we are reminded that our employee ownership journey began more than three decades ago — and continues to shape the company we are building today.
Since 1989, being employee owned has been part of the CBC story. Today, it remains a driving force behind how we work, how we collaborate and how we build for the future.
Employee Owned. Partnership Driven. Built for the Future.
At Central Bag Company, ownership is something we celebrate, but it is also something we put into practice every day. From ESOPlympics to ESOPtober and the everyday decisions made by our employee owners, our ESOP culture helps create a company where people have a reason to care deeply about the work they do and the relationships they build.
After more than 35 years of employee ownership, we are proud of where we have been — and even more excited about where our employee owners are taking CBC next.
